I was chatting to a friend last night and he told me he was after a 1300 mini engine for his classic. Anyone got any ideas? Or even one in their garage they might sell? Apparently a 1300 Metro turbo is no good as his car is fibre glass and the heat from the turbo would melt his bulk head....

Some companies use heat wrap around the turbo and downpipes, or you could just get a tin/ali heat deflector plate to protect the body....

The MG metro Turbo engine is a well known conversion.  The standard Metro engines offer on real performance gain over other A series engines.  And a K series engine wont fit (unless serious modifications are made to the body.

I have to say finding a MG Metro Turbo engine now a days is no mean feat - they were starting to get like rocking horse poo 10 years ago or more.

I think if you are after a Metro 1300 engine then its because you are converting other things at the same time - like the vented brakes or something.  If this is the case the cheapest option might be to buy a whole Metro and use it as a parts donor.
